The newest page on this site is our Papertown Station Story Map. We are in the process of pinning updated stories and random historical data to locations throughout the map. Many of these markers do not yet lead to stories, but their presence offers an exciting visualization of history and timeline—a more interesting way of viewing world history. We've only just begun!
In the top corners of the map are...
Left: a menu that pops out and offers a complete list of all markers on the map that represent stories on the blog. When you click on one of the stories, the marker on the map will light up with a halo. Some browsers are a bit pernickety, so simply zoom in or out until you see it. You can also remove any time period from view by simply unchecking the box at the top of that time period's list. For example, if, let's say, you want to focus only on the pre-1800s era, you would remove all other markers on the map by unchecking time period boxes in this menu.
Right: an expansion box that will open a new window, taking you to the entire map without a frame, which is a bit easier to navigate for some. This story map is a constant work in progress. It will be updated regularly, but it will never be fully complete. So check back often!
*We will consider providing KML files when we have fully edited the blog's stories and feel more comfortable with the data we are uploading.
