2025::The Philippine Mars Spends Christmas On Vancouver Island

As exciting as it was to see the Philippine Mars embark on her last flight toward her forever home in Phoenix, Arizona, she experienced engine issues while in flight and was forced to make an emergency landing at Patricia Bay, back where she had landed when she first arrived on Vancouver Island in 1959. We will update the Mars story when more information becomes available.

2024::Hawaii 2 Mars Scheduled to Make Final Flight Over Vancouver Island

2024::Hawaii 2 Mars Scheduled to Make Final Flight Over Vancouver Island

This past spring, Coulson Aviation, the owner of the Mars planes that fought fires in British Columbia for years, donated the Hawaii 2 Mars as a significant gesture to the British Columbia Aviation Museum. In a momentous event set for August 2024, this relic of history will take off from her Sproat Lake home for the last time and fly over Victoria on her way to the Saanich Inlet, where she will land in the water for the last time. From Patricia Bay, she will be transported to the British Columbia Aviation Museum, the exact location where the Mars fleet first arrived on Vancouver Island in 1959. In her forever home, the Hawaii 2 and the legacy of the Martin Mars planes will be cherished and celebrated for many years.

What a great gift to Vancouver Islanders!
